MISQUAMICUT "On the Beach" Run
23rd Annual 3 Mile Run - Monday, September 13, 2010

This was the 23rd annual running of the Misquamicut “On the Beach” run, which was renamed in 1993 to honor the memory of Charlie Stavros, a top flight road racer who was fatally stricken during a one mile road race in Westerly in May 1993. 

 

A cloudy and cool evening may have kept the number of runners down, but a good time was had by all who did run.  This three mile race featured an out and back run on the beach from Pleasant View Inn towards Watch Hill and back.  The sand was hard packed and fast for running.  Dan Springer and Annette Barbay outran their competitors to win their respective divisions. This race serves as the official close to the Tom McCoy Family Fun Run Series.
